Accurate geolocations are a requirement for the appropriate inclusion of an address in the portatour® schedule. In the process of geocoding, the address is checked and localized as accurately as possible on the map. The longitude and latitude are then stored internally in WGS84 standard.
The addresses are automatically geocoded when importing customer and appointment data to portatour®. Depending on the quality of the addresses, there may arise some problems with individual addresses.
Click on Geocoding to go to the overview of geocoded addresses. You will see three areas:
- Successfully geocoded: You will see a summary of the successfully geocoded customer and appointment addresses.
- Not geocoded: Addresses of the customers listed here could not be geocoded, i.e. these addresses were not found on the map. Edit these addresses immediately, as portatour® cannot include them in the schedule without geocoding. In these cases, the navigation menu and the menu item Geocoding are displayed in red.
- With warning: The geocoding of these addresses was inaccurate. The possible deviation is displayed below the warning message. Inaccurate geocodings are often not critical. The quality of the calculated schedule can only be affected if there are large deviations in the geocoding - e.g. if the street address of a customer is missing in a larger city. For details on the meaning of the various warnings, see Geocode address.
To edit an address, click on a line. A context menu opens. You have three options:
- Select Edit address to start editing the address. An input mask opens with the address that portatour® geocodes and displays on the map. Error or warning messages are displayed in red:
- Click on Remove warning if the deviation of the geocoding is small and tolerable for you.
- Click Open to open the details page of the relevant customer.
Instructions on the messages and on how to further edit the address and geocoding can be found at Geocode address.
In order to once again geocode all addresses of the list with geocoding errors click the Geocode problematic addresses again button below the list. The process can last some time and is carried out in the background, i.e. you can continue to work with portatour® in the meantime. As the portatour® map material is updated several times per year we recommend to geocode problematic addresses again every year. Thus, possible problems might disappear.
