The core function of portatour® is the planning of routes for field sales forces. portatour® can plan routes to accounts, contacts and leads. These three entities are referred to hereafter as 'customers'. In accordance with the objectives of your field sales force, it is advisable to configure portatour® only for those entities that are really visited as customers.
Select the scenario that matches your company the closest. Enter the corresponding settings on portatour® Administration (see Settings for synchronization).
Scenarios
- Most companies use portatour® for planning visits to accounts. The account address is entered into the route plan as a customer. The field force visits the account.
- If your accounts have several contacts who are visited individually, then portatour® plans the visits to each contact. Each of the contacts within an account is entered into the route plan as a separate customer. Note that accounts without a contact are not visited in this case.
- If leads are also to be visited, then these can also be configured as customers for portatour®.
- If a specific selection of leads, contacts or accounts are to be visited, then filters can be applied.
Note: if you would like to include both
accounts and contacts in the route plan, this can easily lead to confusion in the planning. For instance, a customer call is planned with a contact although the related account or another contact of the same account had already been visited on the same site. It is therefore recommended to plan routes either to accounts or to contacts.
