The planning of sales-routes for sales reps is the core function of portatour®. It can plan routes using Accounts, Contacts and Leads. In turn, these three objects will be defined as 'customers'. According to the way your organization uses Salesforce, it makes sense to only configure portatour® for the objects that are also visited as customers.
Decide which scenario works best for your company and proceed with the configuration.
Scenarios
- Most companies use portatour® for scheduling Accounts. The Account address will be recorded as customer in the sales-route plan. Sales reps visit the Account.
- In case your Accounts have multiple Contacts, and each should be visited separately, then you configure portatour® to plan routes to visit Contacts. Each Contact will be considered as a separate customer in route planning. Please note that Accounts without Contacts will not be visited this way.
- In case additional Leads need to be visited, you can configure and activate them as portatour® customers, too.
- Use filters in case a specific selection of Leads, Contacts or Accounts need to be visited.
Based on your decision you conduct the following configuration steps only for Accounts, Contacts or Leads: adaptation of page- and search layout, activation of customers.
Hint: Scheduling both
Accounts and Contacts in your route can easily lead to misunderstandings in your planning. For instance, a customer call is planned with a contact although the related account or account contact had already been visited on the same site. Therefore, it is recommended to plan routes either for Accounts or for Contacts.
