Try portatour® right away with your own customer data to immediately benefit from automatic route planning in your everyday work life. To experience the quality and calculation speed, it is not necessary to import all the details. Start with the basics.
First, prepare your customer data as Excel or CSV file. Download an Excel file as example here: portatour-sample-customers-recommended-EN.xlsx.
Your file must contain at least the following columns, although the name and order of the columns may differ from our example:
For better success, we recommend that you also import the following columns: Date of the last call, call interval (in days, weeks, or number of calls per year) and call duration (in hours, minutes, or seconds)
If you would like to have your customers' contact details at hand at all times so that you can contact them on the go, prepare, e.g., contact person, phone number, email address and webpage in your file:
The call and contact details and other information can also be added directly in portatour® any time.
Import basic data
- In the pop-up window in portatour®, click Import my customers:
If you don't see the pop-up window, you may have loaded demo data. Read Remove demo data. If your own customer data is already in portatour® and you want to update it, see Update customers. - Set your default start and destination point once under Home location. To do this, click on Enter home location. Then type in your address, click Geocode and then Save.
- Under Choose mode, select the first option Create customers.
- Click on Choose file. In the file selection dialog, find the desired file and click Open. Click Upload.
- Under Select headline, check whether the correct line is marked as a header and click Next.
- Under Filtering, click Next.
- Optional: If there are customers from other colleagues in the import file, read Filtering.
- Under Address fields, assign the target fields in portatour® to the respective columns of your file. Click Next.
- If you would like to assign additional columns, such as contact information, do so in the same way on the following pages. This is optional - by clicking on Next, you can simply skip the following pages.
- Click Next until you get to the Key fields (IDs) page. Assign the column containing the customer number to the external ID here. This is important if you want to update customer details later (see also Key fields (IDs) ).
Click Next. - Click Import.

- It is possible to create further fields and import more data at any time, see Custom fields overview and Update customers.
- A restore point will be created when starting the import process. In case the import process does not lead to the desired result, you reset to this restore point (see Restore).
